The initial plan was to spend an extra chill day in Birnham after the games and explore the area a little more however we found out that Inverary and Districts Pipe Band were playing in Inverary as a thank you to the community for their support so Maggie cajoled her mother into the four hour round trip.
We decided to also take a tour of Inverary Castle in the morning. Delwyn had been there in 1997. We took a slow wander around. Maggie was particularly interested in the ancient sporrans on display and Delwyn the art, particularly the multiple Gainsborough portraits.

It seemed like Maggie was particularly keen to get into town to ensure we got a good parking spot to see the band perform so we did not get a chance to wander through the gardens much to Delwyn's displeasure.
After an enjoyable lunch at The George Hotel, we headed for the Front Green in Inverary to be treated to the band playing THAT medley.
For those reading this who don't know, Inverary and Districts are the current World Champions. Part of their winning performances during the competition culminated in this medley being played. It has (very rightly) received very high praise for its beautiful musical composition and the harmonies are something else. Maggie said she felt quite emotional after hearing it in person. It was an amazing experience. Click on this link below to have a listen.
The band paraded back down the the George Hotel where they played some more tunes. Stuart Liddell the Pipe Major and Solo Piping legend saw Maggie in the audience and when they stopped playing he came and gave her a congratulatory hug for her McGregor placing. She was chuffed. Maggie is not pleased with her mothers terrible photography however - never mind.
