Blairgowrie Highland Games

Quite a bit of on and off precipitation throughout the games. A good field of both senior and junior pipers. A good amount of stallholders also. The area is known for berry growers and anyone who has been to Scotland in Summer will know just how amazing the berries are. Between us we have eaten a lot of berries!

By now we have gotten to know quite a few pipers. It’s been nice chatting to some of the parents also which has been a good way to fill in time. Again Maggie played 2/4 March, Strathspey/Reel and Piobaireachd. As the day went on the rain got heavier so very challenging playing conditions for most competitors - very cold fingers, wet kilts and pipes.

The Chieftain at the games is am impressive looking fellow - we missed getting our photo taken with him. He has been the Chieftain for 34 years!

Maggie had another good day with placings across all events. The other two kiwis playing - Callum Cairn and Willie Rowe also had a good day out, with Callum being placed 3rd in his Piobaireachd board and Willie Rowe 2nd in his - there were about 25 extremely good competitors on these boards so great results. The results were announced in the pouring rain and took about 40 minutes to get through! Some dedication!
